"Courage is the root of change--and change is what we're chemically designed to do"

“Whenever you feel afraid, just remember. Courage is the root of change–and change is what we’re chemically designed to do. So when you wake up tomorrow, make this pledge. No more holding yourself back. No more subscribing to other’s opinions of what you can and cannot achieve… When you go home today, ask yourself what YOU will change. And then get started.”

~Bonnie Garmus, Lessons in Chemistry, (Elizabeth Zott), Chapter 41, Page 360

I had this idea to start a blog a while ago. I got as far as publishing a site, making one post where I greeted all of my viewers, and then I never looked at it again. I had this vision that making a blog would be life changing and the start of something really big for me. I got so caught up in my ideas about the future, that I never put the things that I needed to in motion to make my future what I wanted it to be.

I don’t know why I’m trying again. But in a way, I do know. Doing big things can be scary, especially if they’re new. But the thing about the big things is that they’re usually just little steps that you do one at a time and then they add up to something big. By the time you get the big moment. It doesn’t feel as daunting anymore. Human resilience and capability in that way is kind of amazing.

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus teaches the importance of staying committed to one’s goals and knowing how to pave the path one needs to get there. There are always challenges ahead, but if you stay true to yourself, keep your support system close, and keep an open mind, then things will work out.
